If there's one thing Angelina Jolie knows how to do, it's keeping the press captivated, and of recent interest is the collection of tattoos that she's had inked all over her body.

One of the most prominent tattoos Jolie has is the phrase 'Know Your Rights' which features across her neck in Gothic lettering, and is a representation of her humanitarian work.

She has stated in interviews that the phrase was inspired by the title of a 1982 song recorded by The Clash, an English punk band formed by Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, and Paul Simonon.

The 'know your rights' tattoo
Various articles have touched on the ever-growing collection of tattoos that Angelina sports, one of which is the phrase 'know your rights'.

It has been reported that the tattoo refers to the struggles of people she has come across in her role as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

In a 2006 CNN interview, Jolie touched on the subject by saying:

"I think it's what comes down to everything for all these people, for refugees, for everybody. It's for them to know what their rights are -- for children who are trafficked, for women who are vulnerable, for everybody,"
She then went on to say: "The Declaration of Human Rights says everybody has the right to an education, or everybody has the right to freedom of movement. Everybody has the right -- you know, that these things are in our law. If you really look into it, we're all protected somehow."

I don't believe so. The tattoo relates to her passion and involvement with Human Rights and her UNHCR association.
