No you can't download movies and tv shows which is so annoying. I am an iPod touch user and to be honest like Many other people I buy a lot of things from iTunes store. Maybe they should look into it again because in the last two years iTunes purchases in Ireland have gone nothing but UP....I Wish they would listen to all these people who want it. They are too busy counting all their money. I would suggest going down to right hand bottom and selecting united kingdom and get a uk billing address and then download them. But that can be annoying. If apple were just smart they would know that nearly every single house that has someone that at least lives under the age of seventy years of age has an iPod and a computer or laptop. For good sake because in Irish class our teacher tried to ask us in Irish do you have an iPod an nearly everyone answered yes.

This is a disgrace, I lived in the UK for a while and signed up at that time with a UK address & UK credit card, but now I'm back in Ireland I continue to use the UK store for movies. Someone said that itunes looked at delivering movies for Ireland but decided not too because of our internet, thats absolute bohlox, I download movies & tv shows all the time and they are quick enough.

The one thing you should be grateful for though is the playback is really jittery on PCs/ Laptops (I guess it would be grand on a mac?) , what I'm saying is that downloads will not take over the DVD industry any time soon until either a) the technology catches up or b) Apple stop being a closed wall society. I used to download free films and they playback perfectly on Windows Media Player its just iTunes software sucks.

It must be annoying not being able to purchase movies or shows but like the above said, the USA & UK do make a majority of the content on iTunes so maybe iTunes should maybe look into adding "Fair City" cough cough, to its library. Or maybe "The Clinic" cough cough cough

No & it is really annoying. Apple does not seem to care about us enough. Other countries with the EURO have movies & tv shows in their iTunes but not Ireland

Well a majority of the content on iTunes comes from USA and UK so it would make sense for them to have it. Ireland doesn't really contribute anything to the movie/TV industry.

Apparently apple looked into Ireland for movies and found that the country doesn't have good enough internet infrastructure and there isn't enough demand for it, which means not an attractive amount of profit for apple. >.

All they have to do is set up a server I'm pretty sure SOME people in ireland will buy movies and tv shows off it.... Which only means profits from apple... So stupid!!!

The internet infrastructure in the state's isn't amazing either. It's quite poor relative to other countries in Europe. "UPC"(formerly NTL), offer 30MBit broadband now. A Standard Definition movie(usually 800MB-1GB could be downloaded in 8-10 minutes), and high definition movies in an hour.

Yes you can. The iTunes 7 delivers stunning new features such as new album, TV shows and movies, enabling users to find titles in their library as well as re-discover titles they already own. The iTunes Store is now offering over 75 movies from Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films, which the customers can purchase and download to watch on their computers and iPods.

That's not true. ITunes movies are available in certain countries, like UK for example, however not in Ireland... Unless you register with iTunes UK using credit card with billing address in UK.

Firstly, from a strictly legal point of view, Apple’s Terms and Conditions limit you to only using the iTunes Store in the country you’re in. For example, the iTunes Store U.K. Terms and Conditions note that “The Service is available to you only in the United Kingdom. You agree not to use or attempt to use the Service from outside this location. iTunes may use technologies to verify your compliance.” Similar language is used in most other countries where the iTunes Store is available. If Apple decides that you have been using your iTunes Store account outside of the Terms and Conditions, it has the right to shut down your account, possibly resulting in a loss of access to, or updates for, any items that were purchased with that account.
