There are many times when you concentrate on something too hard and all your brain can do is remind you of that specific thing. Similarly, if you listen to all a lot of music then you'd be singing those tunes and a part of your mind would focuse upon music. The excess of it can become boring, but on the other hand there isn't much harm done other than wasting time.
However, there is a study that indicates that listening to loud music through ear phones for more than 90 minutes a day can be harmful. For further information click here

What kind of music are you talking about, and in what sense do mean harmful?  There are so many variables in your question.  It's not good if that's all you do, if it's too loud, if it distracts you while driving or using machinery, or you take some lyrics to heart.

If I listen to the kinds of music I like, I can listen to it all day, all night, every day.  I find it helps me do what I need to do if it's in the background, because it helps me concentrate.  The time passes quickly, and it can relieve the boredom of repetitive tasks and chores.  It helps a long car trip go faster.  It can soothe and calm someone.  It all depends on the individual, the kind of music, and how we use it.

Sadly, yes. I used to listen to a lot of metal, and I got depressed. I'm not saying all people who listen to metal are depressed, just that some can take it easier than others. When I took the metal away, I slowly became happier, and happier, and happier, and happier, and maybe I got a little too happy because I'm very peppy! 8)

hah, I can relate. I grew up on a diet of Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, and let's just say I wasn't the most cheerful kid in class. But then again, it was cool to be alternative back then... not sure if it still is with youngsters these days ;)

Not really...Well at least, I guess not. People will just say, "Your emo," when you tell them what kind of music you listen to. Stereotype much?

It depends on what kind of music you listen to. When I listen to a hapy upbeat song with a fast beat I feel a little better =P But when I listen to a slow song with a slow beat I feel a little slower and sadder
