It's a chicken-and-egg situation. Which comes first ... The lyrics or the music?

I don't know what most songwriters do, but Gilbert and Sullivan, at least sometimes, wrote the songs first (Gilbert) and the music later (Sullivan).

If you have a musical imagination it could go either way. If you have a tune belting around inside your head then it's just a matter of finding the right words for it. Or, you could copy Sullivan's method and see what tunes the words bring to mind.

I'm not quite sure your question was asking but if that's no help maybe you could explain.

While I can aprectiate your sentiment in comparing lyrics to music to " the chicken and the egg.. Which came first" whilst comparing lyrics to music... You is mute , the chicken came first 😡
A chicken and an egg are lying in bed. The chicken is leaning against
the headboard smoking a cigarette, with a satisfied smile on its face.
The egg, looking a bit pissed off, grabs the sheet, rolls over, and
says, "Well, I guess we finally answered THAT question.

My favourite lyric, line in a song is  "tilt my throat back,  slit my throat take a bath in my blood get to know me. " I know to some may sound grusome  but I see something so very beautiful in that line. So I guess just lyrics that mean something , have feeling. People will find their own meaning in whatever you choose to say if it's meaningful :)

Whatever speaks to you. Personally I find classical music is what speaks to my creative side.
