What could they do in movies 25 years ago that they could not get away with today?
Absolutely nothing ... It's the other way around. Things are regularly depicted in movies AND TV these days, that the censors wouldn't have allowed 25 years ago.
Having actual talent, good writing, good dialogue, good plot, take your pick, I've got an entire list!
I think they have more rules on the safety of animals in films today more than they did 25 years ago.
I'm trying to think of a movie from 25 years ago .. Im not awesome at math but I can only think of grease 2 .. That's a girl movie so you probably don't know it . But only a movie 25 years ago could be this cheesy and get away with it:) so awesome :) Also this song was my first sex ed lesson when I was a kid .. No wonder I'm in therapy now :P
