Mine automatically shuts off after like 30 minutes of no action. However, I created an awful habit of sleeping with earbuds in when I was in the hospital to listen to music and I still do it for noise.

Dear Roy Roy,

No I do not sleep with the TV on...and there is a reason for that, because I am probably the last person in the civilized world who does not even own a television...

No.  We don't even have a TV in our bedroom.  I've never needed or wanted TV there either.

I don't have one in my bedroom, just a small fan!

Hay!!!!! You are part of the fan club!!!!! Me too! :0)
Gotta have one for the noise! Walgreen's carries a baby toy that has a sound of the white noise of a fan. We take it with us when we stay at motels cuz it helps keep the fan noise around. :0)

I prefer it off but sometimes the sandman catches me before I can shut it off. I definitely have more restful/peaceful sleep when it is off!

Sometimes, if I have insomnia really bad, I will turn it on Turner Classic Movies and set the timer on it. Most of the time, however, I listen to an audio book or a CD to help me drift off.

Oh yes! I saw Red River this weekend, with John Wayne and Montgomery Clift. It's been a while since I've seen that one.

Red River...actually that is another movie I loved John Wayne performance, along with THE SHOOTIST...saw it maybe 1965, part of a Howard Hawks series. Actually, maybe it was Montgomery Clift I really loved there...

Anyway, legend has it rival director John Ford saw RED RIVER and said of John Wayne, ""I never knew the big son of a b*tch could act."

I am STILL not sure he could act - with a couple of stunning exceptions.

Only by accident a few times, otherwise no. I do sleep with an air purifier on, which has the same white noise effect.

I've gotten where I need the tv on (sound super low) in order to fall asleep.  During the night I sort of roll over and turn it off.
