Garlic should do the trick. If you eat enough of the stuff no magician will come near you.

I believe a crucifix also works but only if you shout Begone! in an authoritative voice!

When I was a Mass server, I had achieved the rank of Supreme Grand Knight in the parish. I was the only one to do so.

As such, I had my choice of functions and roles from those available. I liked to chose the ones that didn't require me to sit still out in front of the people---so I had a lot of free time to explore the sacristy.

There were numerous books there. I read the one on the Rite of Exorcism over one Easter Season. If I had been drinking at the time, I suspect it would have---at a minimum---scared me sober.

I'm not much of drinker, but I can think of a better analogy at the moment.

I didn't realise the church had titles like that. I'd have been more inclined to associate that with the Masons.

How egotistical:
"Egypt was the most advanced civilization of the ancient world in terms of its culture, science, medicine, politics, social structure, and-- perhaps most importantly-- its incredibly sophisticated approach to spirituality"

Says who?
Part of the reason we know so much about ancient Egypt, is it didn't collapse until after interacting with the Roman Empire.
As opposed to (say) the ancient Mayans ... who obviously had advanced math and astronomy knowledge. But we know little else of their culture, compared to what we know of Egypt.

Egotistical on whose part, Walt?

And why does "its incredibly sophisticated approach to spirituality" guarantee its validity---even if that is even an accurate characterization?

Some say that after the fall, Satan was in fact allowed to rule the world. Perhaps this simply represents his achievements at the time?

Again ... what scientific research proves that ancient Egypt was the "most advanced civilization" of the ancient world?

I saw such an interesting movie called "Skeleton Key". The premise was quite simple . . . The idea that supernatural beliefs have no power over you, until you believe them. Once converted, the mind accepts Superstition and Magic over Reason and Logic within a natural reality.

Simply deny them another ignorant fool . . . Remain steadfast and vigilant by adhering to reality.
