I don't think one gender is funnier than the other .... I've laughed uncontrollably to both Tim Conway and Carol Burnett.

Gender does not define the skill, talent and the performances to me.

Humans can be great comedians regardless of the gender.

But i can not speak about availability and the percentage of which  genders are entering the industry more effectively or getting opportunities  because i am not into it firmly. Therefore i am unaware of it's details.  But i know gender has nothing to do with such performances.

(Many jobs, talents and professions are unrelated to gender, sometimes our eyes just got used to seeing woman less on the image, because of the vanish of the rights throughout history, gender simply does not define abilities)

My preference is usually male comedians but there are many exceptions and there are some very funny women out there.(I should know. I'm *sob* married to one.)

But some subjects really demand a man's delivery while others are the exclusive domain of women. I'd like to see any man getting away with what Anita Renfroe did to the William Tell Overture.

She's very clever.
After being accused of sexism, and following many demands, she compiled a companion song called "The Dad Song" that listed all the things that a father might say to his children in the course of 24 hours.
She stood on stage waiting, William Tell and the Lone Ranger came galloping in on the sounds system. And still she waited, hands clasped at her breast. Then when he cue came she sang, "Ask your dad!" End of song.
