The hurricane hit Texas. We had a small tropical wave come through in Florida, and no where near the rain Texas got. The video coming out of there is astounding. There were Army transport trucks that were sent in to help that were under water. Too many of those houses will have to be leveled and rebuilt.

I know many people relocated to Houston after Katrina hit New Orleans. I can't imagine someone having to go through this twice.

I remember when Katrina hit they put people inside sport stadiums & apparently it was lawless, drugs,crime, assaults left right & centre not to mention insufficient toilets, toiletries for females etc. going through it again must be terrible for these people.

That they do. Houston seems to have a better handle on their shelters and emergency services. There are also a lot of groups that have gained experience through Katrina and the floods in Louisiana last year.

There is a group of country boys that got tired of waiting for help in Louisiana and organized themselves with their john boats (small flat bottom boats) and started helping people. The named themselves the Cajun Navy. They got together again and headed out to Houston on Sunday, I think. They have run into a few people looting, but that has been the only reports of it that I have heard.
