This song is an adaptation of an Italian (instrumental) for the soundtrack of the documetary "Mondo Cane" ('62). Composed by legendary Riz Ortolani and Nino Oliviero, it got also a version with italian lyrics by Marcello Ciorciolini, title "Ti guardero nel cuoro".
This documenary was so succesfull all over the world that the song got an english translation by Norman Newell in 1963. And in 1964 the song got the "Oscar" for best song !!
All the great names in the American music scene made a cover of it :
Martha and The Vandellas ; Jackie Gleason (!), Al Martino, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Bobby Darin, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, The Drifters, Aretha Franklin, Gene Pitney, Herb Alpert,
The Supremes, Booker T & The MG's , etc.
!! Sometimes this song is also titled as "Life savers Girls", the early "english" title, used for the instrumental of the song, before George Newell made his famous lyrics for the song "More" .
