Given the time period that they existed in, there were only artistic depictions and representations of both Muhammad of Ghori and Mahmud of Ghazni. Some of these artistic depictions can be found at http://www.herenow4u.net/uploads/pics/Mahmud_of_Ghazni.jpg7 and http://atiqqta.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/muhammad-ghori.jpg.

  • Who is Mahmud of Ghazni?

Mahmud of Ghazni shown in this depiction was  Yamin ad-Dawlah Abd al-Qasim Mahmud Ibn Sebuktegin and he reigned over the region of Ghazni in Afghanistan from the year 997 all the way through to 1030. Mahmud of Ghazni was born an Afghan citizen although there was a Turkish bloodline in his family.

During his reign he defended his sultanate from numerous political opposition and threat. It is also reported that he was a lover of arts and poetry and had several of the region's most renowned artists visit him and his people. He then died in 1030 on April 30th and was buried in his beloved Ghazni.

  • Who is Muhammad of Ghori?

Muhammad of Ghori was otherwise known as Muizzudin Muhammad Bin Sam was born in 1150; long after the death of Mahmud of Ghazni. He only began his reign in Ghurid dynasty 52 years later in 1202. His reign over the Ghorid Empire was short-lived; controlling the Ghurid dynasty for only four years.

However - during this time he also regained control of Ghazni from its then ruler and joined it with the Ghorid Empire. His reign was over when he died March 15th 1206 in the Jhelum Distrcit of Pakistan. Although he did not serve as the ruler of his dynasty for as long as Mahmud of Ghazni, he made a considerable impact on India and its Muslim community.
