Nelson Mandela died Thursday the 5th of December 2013, at the age of 95.
How did Nelson Mandela die?
Mandela had not been seen in public for several months, and was at home receiving ongoing treatment for a lung infection when he passed away. This was the end of a long medical battle that Mr. Mandela had been fighting, and his passing was announced by current South African President Jacob Zuma.
What will Nelson Mandela be remembered for?
He was the first black President of South Africa, and an icon that brought down apartheid.
He led the way for a fairer and more equal society globally, and his humbleness, leadership and ability to unite people and bring them together are just some of the traits that he will be remembered for.
It's hard to think of anyone else on this planet who is so revered and respected, so his death really is the passing of a man from this life into the history books.
