For a number of people, the best part of watching an LA Galaxy game is the moment at the end of the match when David Beckham takes off his shirt. For some, the attraction is his chiselled physique, especially his abs - but increasingly, it's his growing collection of body art that has tattoo enthusiasts paying attention.

Beckham and his first guardian angel tattoo
Beckham seems to have something of a penchant for angelic figures as they feature prominently in most of the tattoo work that he has had done, and he has two different pieces that feature angels specifically.

The first is the tattoo on Beckham's back that was done in 1999 by celebrity tattooist Louis Molloy.

Molloy has built a reputation for his realistic-style tattoos, and angels are one of his specialist subjects. He became something of a household name in the tattoo world after featuring in the 2007 filming of the TV program London Ink.

Other angel tattoos
Whilst browsing these photos, you may also notice a second guardian angel tattoo adorning Beckham's right arm. This portrait (of an angel engulfed in flames) is a tribute to David's wife Victoria and includes a translation of a Roman poem that reads 'Let them hate, as long as they fear'.

A further three angels appear on Beckham's arms, and depict cherubs who represent his three children Romeo, Cruz and Harper.

When asked about the meaning behind the cherub tattoos, Beckham explained: "I like the feeling that [my children] are with me even when I'm away from home ... My dad had three tattoos of his own and so the idea has been with me since I was a kid."
