Usually a 110 volt plug indicates the radio is designed to run on North American 117 volt/ 60 Hz AC. A 240 volt plug indicates the radio is designed to run on 240 volt / 50 Hz European AC. You must convert the 110v to 240v with a transformer and live with the hum or buy a 110VAC to European 240volt converter. Radio Shack should be able to help you.
