The song Hey Soul Sister is about a man's obsession with a woman he has met. The song, recorded by the band Train, was a hit in 2009 in the United States.

Train is an American rock band that was formed in 1994, in San Francisco. The band are a trio and had massive success with their second album, Drops of Jupiter, which included their biggest hit prior to Hey, Soul Sister. That song was also titled Drops of Jupiter and reached number 5 in the United States, as well as making the top 10 in other countries including the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. The song also won two Grammy Awards in 2002 and the band followed its release with two further, less successful, albums.

The fifth Train album was released in 2009, and the band enjoyed further success throughout the world, including scoring their biggest hit to date, the aforementioned Hey, Soul Sister, which climbed to number 3 in the United States, and reached number 1 in Australia and Ireland. The song also reached the top 3 in Canada and New Zealand. The single won a Grammy Award, as well as two Billboard Music awards.
