Lorenzo's oil is film which was nominated for Academy Award in 1992 drama film category. This film was directed by George Miller. This movie is based on true stories of 2 parents who have a son named Lorenzo with a disease called adrenoleukodystrophy. Both parents searching a cure for this disease.  There was no cure of this disease. All doctors and researchers refused to help. Both parents planed a mission to save their son. They set up camps in medical libraries, reviewed animal experiments and questioned researchers and doctors. Finally they got a treatment in the form of olive oil from which two specific long chain fatty acids removed. They used this oil in the diet of their son and their son started to improve. They contacted many firms of the world for the distillation of the formula and finally a British chemist working for Croda International agreed to start work.
This film show how a medicine can have different phases before finally becoming available for use.

It is based on the true story of two parents who are in search of a cure for adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), which is inflicted on their son Lorenzo. There is abundant use of scientific methods in the movie as the parents are consistently researching into finding a cure for the disease. They set up camp libraries, review animal experiments, question researchers and doctors and finally succeed in finding a therapy that involves a kind of oil that helps in making their son's condition better.
