Doordarshan, the Indian Public Service Broadcaster, broadcast countless shows in the 1980s which are fondly remembered today. If you want to watch those shows again for free, the obvious place to start is YouTube.
If you are a fan of the epic serial Vishwamitra, then you are in luck, as all six hours of this program are available to watch on YouTube. Simply head to YouTube and type 'doordarshan vishwamitra' and starting watching! You are equally well served if you enjoyed the army drama Fauji, as YouTube has all thirteen episodes available to watch.
The comedy serial Nukkad, one of Doordashan's most popular ever shows, is also well represented, with the first 35 episodes episodes ready to watch.
Unfortunately, the show Circus appears to be absent from YouTube, but you could try other such online video sites, like Vimeo, Dailymotion and Metacafe.
American and British programs shown by Doordashan, such as Teletubbies, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Tandoori Nights are just as patchy in their presence on YouTube, but there are several episodes of Teletubbies available.
