At the age of 17, Lee Harvey Oswald dropped out of school. Then he joined United States Marine Corps and left it in 1959. After that he went to the then Soviet Union (present day Russia).
In Russia, Lee Harvey Oswald worked at the Minsk radio plant. He met with Marina who was working as a pharmaceutical assistant. Oswald told Marina that he had given up his American citizenship and hence couldn't go back to the United States. He married with Marina and they had a daughter.
