Stanley Kubrick was a well known American film director and producer considered to be one of the most inventive and influential film makers of his time. He started the trend of long takes in movies which influenced many other directors to use this sequence in their movies too. A few examples of some modern day movies with long sequences are Boogie Nights-1997 and Goodfellas-1990.
In later years he had influenced everything from the lighting in the movie to the movie script to special effects. Leonard Klandy a well know movie critic with Daily Variety famously said the "Kubrick was the pantheon of great film making". He used so many things so well in his movies that he raised the bar for film making. He was very well respected in the film circle and earned strong defense from his admirers.
