Can't think of anything from the 50's. The first song that sprung to mind that opens with sirens is "Blockbuster" by The Sweet, released in the early 70's.

Thanks, but it was definitely a song from when I was young...my cousins and I remember hearing it at our grandparents house. I remember they listened to things such as the soundtracks from Sound of Music, South Pacific, Porgy and Bess, West Side Story, Sing Along With Mitch Miller, etc.

I am sorry I can't help.  I was not born til 79.  I do like the oldies music though.  The only thing I can think of is the YMCA song.  But that has a policeman and an Indian singing and dancing around that don't have fire sirens in it.  You can always try calling your local music dept. Store.  At some Hastings they have computers that you can call someone who works there and tell them some of the words in the song or some lyrics and they can usually pull up the song, singer or group, and or album with it.  I would maybe try that also.  Hopefully, someone here can help you out more though with this.  Good luck.

Thanks, But I'm thinking maybe I need to find someone to ask who is much older (like in their 80's or older) who might remember the music of that time...I am pretty sure it must have been from some broadway or movie soundtrack, since my grandparents had a collection of record albums which included a lot of those. If they were alive today, they would be just over 100 yrs. Old!

I'm trying to think and The Night Chicago died comes to mind, do you remember any of the words at all?

I know that song, and this was way earlier than that...I don't recall any words, just waiting in anticipation for the sirens to start, and then we would race around my grandparents house. Thanks anyways!
