There are several different ways that you could go about playing the song 'Happy Birthday' on the violin. The most common set of notes that are given on the Internet are listed below. The notes in capital letters are played on the A string whereas notes in lower case are played on the E string.

A A B A D C#
A A B A e D
A A a f# D C# B
g g f# D E D.

If you are not used to reading notes then the following explanation of the notes may be more useful to you.

A A A1 A A3 A2
A A A1 A E A3
A A E3 E1 A3 A2 A1
E2 E2 E1 A3 E A3

If you can read notes but are still having a bit of trouble getting the song exactly right when you play it, there are dozens of videos on YouTube where people are giving tutorials on how to play songs.

The following link will take you to a YouTube clip where a professional violinist will talk you through the notes that make up the Happy Birthday song and he will also teach you how to play it. All the while he will be giving you step by step instructions. The best thing about teaching yourself or using online videos or guides to learn is that you really can go at your own pace which means that you will feel more comfortable. However, you may not have the same push, motivation or drive to learn the song that you might get with a teacher in person. If you are learning this song to play at a friend's or family member's birthday then you should dedicate yourself to making it perfect as a wonderful gift for them.
