The lantoy is a nose flute that originates from the people in the Northern region of the Philippines. Different indigenous people across the Philippine islands have different names the wood wind instrument.

Pablo Salcedo, an Argentinian flutist said: "the Kalinga call it tongali, the Bontok kaleleng, and the Ifugao ungiung. It is found sporadically in some areas of the south among the Hanunuo (lantuy), the Batak  (lantoy), and the Bukidnon (bulaktob)."

It is made with bamboo and you blow it with your nose. There are holes in the bamboo to cover with your fingers as you blow to make the different notes.

The lantoy is played during festivals, harvests and meal time. It is also an instrument that was played by young, single men played.

The Batak traditionally played many different flutes so it follows that they are one of the indigenous tribes who play a nose flute. These indigenous groups of the North Philippines are thought to be some of the first inhabitants of the islands.
