Is television an important means of communication?

I think it definitely is yes. I personally have learned a lot from television, even through programmes that are not educational. Soap story lines have to be researched and based on the truth, so we can learn a lot from these. We also have news reports and can learn new things through documentaries etc. It's also a great way for lonely people to keep in touch with the world and not feel so isolated. When a company releases a new product we often hear about it first through the television - either as a news feature (latest phones etc) or advertisements. Advertising companies love television as they know that most people will watch TV for at least an hour each day and therefore have a way of reaching their target audience plus other people that may be interested.
