There's A Song With The Lyrics, 'Blazing On A Sunny Afternoon - In The Summertime' And It Kind Of Sounds Like The Beatles, But It's Not. Who Sung It, And What Are The Lyrics?

I'm pretty sure you're after Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks. You're right, though - it does sound like a song that The Beatles could have written! In fact, The Beatles released Taxman the same year, which is also about the high levels of progressive tax that the UK Labour government was taking.

Sunny Afternoon was released as a single in June 1966, and was number 1 in the UK singles charts. It later featured on the album Face To Face.

Lyrics to Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks The tax man's taken all my dough And left me in my stately home Lazing on a sunny afternoon And I can't sail my yacht He's taken everythin' I've got All I've got's this sunny afternoon Save me, save me Save me from this squeeze I've got a big fat momma tryin' to break me And I love to live so pleasantly Live this life of luxury Lazing on a sunny afternoon In the summertime, in the summertime In the summertime My girlfriend's gone off with my car And gone back to her ma and pa Telling tales of drunkenness and cruelty Now I'm sitting here Sipping at my ice cold beer Lazing on a sunny afternoon Help me, help me, help me sail away Well, give me two good reasons Why I ought to stay 'Cause I love to live so pleasantly Live this life of luxury Lazing on a sunny afternoon In summertime, in summertime In summertime Save me, save me Save me from this squeeze I've got a big fat momma tyin' to break me And I love to live so pleasantly Live this life of luxury Lazing on a sunny afternoon In the summertime, in the summertime In the summertime, in the summertime In the summertime

Oh Dude !
It´s The Kinks, not the Beatles. "Sunny Afternoon".

But I do admit, it does sound familiar.
