I still have my set, in the red metal box. Hours of fun.

That is remarkable...and wonderful too! One aspect of Blurt i really appreciate i recollection of all the past years and decades of my life...perhaps partly because of the delightful presence of young Blurters?

Four of equal pleasure, depending on where my imagination was at the time:

Erector set, Tinkertoys, Lincoln Logs, and "Bricks"

("Bricks" were much like Legos, but made of wood.)

Jump Rope, Jaxs, Hopscotch, Tag, Climbing Trees and Red Rover. We were too poor for toys.

We were far from wealthy also...actually my father was a highly skilled worker, but it was logging country when the large timber companies controlled wages tightly, and oppressively...so, much of my childhood I recall he earned $200 per month, low even in those days.

Did not prevent us from a wonderful childhood, as you have illustrated Dear Jan...

Oh Gator Blu...I remember the bicycle...it was not tiny but still smaller than average because I was so little. Arrived for Christmas...It had colored plastic streamers coming out of the handles, and I even named that bicycle...it was "Lightning."

Rationing made toys a bit scarce in Oz during WWII and for a few years after. Like Skip, I enjoyed Pick Up Sticks (called Fiddlesticks over here) and a few board games like Monopoly.

Mostly we played in the bush along a local creek, or went fishing in one of the local rivers (we had two close by).

I had a small blackboard that I loved to draw on and play "school" with.  My other favorite thing was my bike!  I rode that thing into the ground!!!

Loved my bike, too, but I wouldn't stretch it to the category of a toy. As both parents worked fulltime we kids had to pedal here & there.
Not to be pitied I enjoyed biking and . . . we lived across the street from my grade school!

Under the age of 7 it was capsilla

You could build motorized things with it , even boats ..

Then it was a skateboard ,

That was more of an obsession

Then a toy till I was 17 or so

And later when I was 25 ish

I started skating again

I never regained my balance

And balz like I had before .

And when I fell it hurt

As a youngster I just bounced up

And tried again.
