The only 'It's my party and I'll cry if I want to" movie we are definitely aware of is the 1990 comedy 'Problem Child', starring John Ritter, Jack Warden, Michael Oliver, Amy Yasbeck, Gilbert Gottfried and Peter Jurasik. It was written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski and directed by Dennis Dugan.

The movie also featured a range of other well known tracks, including 'Bad to the Bone', by George Thorogood, Iggy Pop's 'Real Wild Child' and Steppenwolf's 'Born to be Wild'. The Beach Boys perform the end title track, 'Problem Child'.

  • 'Problem Child'
The story centers around seven-year-old orphan Junior, who is incorrigible, mean-spirited and hardly a so-called model child. He is adopted by loving Ben and obnoxious wife Flo Healy. When Junior enters their lives, ordinary days are turned into full-scale crazy nightmares.

Junior leaves a serious path of destruction, and even becomes pen pals with a notorious convicted killer, Martin Beck, who promptly kidnaps his correspondent, along with adoptive mum Flo. Ben then undertakes a wacky mission to rescue Junior and Flo from Beck.

  • 'It's My Party'
The first person to record this track was actually Helen Shapiro, but because the album she recorded it for was not released until after Lesley Gore's single version, it was regarded as a cover.

The song has been covered by a whole host of artists, including Brian Ferry in 1973, Carroll Baker in 1977, Barbara Gaskin and Dave Stewart in 1981 and The Chipettes, who recorded it for 'May the Best Chipmunk Win', an episode of 'Alvin and the Chipmunks', in 1983.

Other famous voices who have been heard to cover the track are rapper Fabolous, Brandy, The Paris Sisters, The Chiffons, Brenda Lee, Carol Welsman, Sue Thompson and Amy Winehouse.

It's probably in a lot of movies since its a old and popular song. The movie I thought of first was "Problem Child".  The song plays at the mean little girl's birthday party when Junior ruins the party. This is an older movie too, it stars John Ridder when he was very young but it is still a very funny movie. I use to watch it all the time when I was younger.
