I think the answer is the earth passed close to the orbit of a long comet 0.0115 AU away. The leftover, called Linearids, which left the debris of its shower in its passage and could still provoke a meteor fall on the earth. The comet was called Linear, and was discovered by the Lincoln Near -Earth Asteroid Research team, on the 12th of May.
The comet called Linear passed so close to the sun in September, that it brightened to ninth magnitude.
The discovery was considered to be the first of its kind in the depth that the team went into to research this event.
