Dolly wrote it and makes tons of money every time it is sung; But, Dolly did NOT write
this FOR Whitney. A few years back Whitney actually ASKED Dolly if she could sing it!! Dolly wrote it in 1974. It was directed toward Porter Wagoner for she was professionally departing HIS show and she was recognizing him for the devotion/friendship he had given her.

Dolly Parton, then they decides to turn it into Whitney's. They didn't even plan on doing it in the BodyGuard.

The song 'I Will Always Love You' was originally written by the American Country singer, Dolly Parton. The song was released in 1974 and has been covered by a lot of artists. The song was more famously covered by singer Whitney Houston in 1992. The song reached the number one spot in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks and was also number one in U.K., France, Australia and other countries. Whitney also received the Best Record Grammy Award of the Year. The song is about an end of a romantic relationship between two lovers. The protagonist is saying that though things did not work out well among them, but the love will always be there.
