Studies.
An experiment was conducted in which 60 subjects were placed in three different rooms, and a different piece of music was played in each room.
One room was subjected to "The Seasons (Spring Movement)" by Haydn; another room was played "Holier Than Thou" by Metallica, and the third room was played white noise. The same picture was then placed in front of the subjects for thirty seconds whilst the music was still playing.
Following the removal of the picture, and the music being switched off, the subjects filled out a questionnaire about their memories of the picture. The results concluded that the subjects who were subjected to white noise fared worse than those who listened to Metallica or Haydn. The group who were played Haydn performed best in the questionnaire.
