Are They Going To Make The Second Eragon (Eldest) Into A Movie?

As of June 2012, there are no reported plans to make a film adaptation of Eldest.

Eldest is the second novel in the four-book fantasy series the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, which focuses on a boy named Eragon and his dragon, Saphira. Eldest follows after Eragon, which was made into a film in 2006.

Before the film Eragon came out, Christopher Paolini was asked about the possibility of making a film adaptation of Eldest, and replied “I think we’ll know after opening weekend.” Many fans of the novel were disappointed with the film Eragon as it didn’t stay particularly true to the book, and it wasn’t very popular with those unfamiliar with the Inheritance Cycle series either. It was criticised for being lifeless and for lacking depth. Rotten Tomatoes, the trusted film review website, gave the film a rating of only 16%.

As a result of this largely negative reception of Eragon the movie, it therefore doesn’t seem likely Eldest will be made into a film any time soon.

The are rumours that it will be made in 2011 although I wish they would remake eragon as the missed out half the storyline and important information for the other books

I mean that I wouldn't mind seeing Eldest made into te movie. It would be a great money maker after the whole series is has come out on DVD. Because then they could special edition releases and stuff like that l. I mean they this murder the first, but what do you except from a director that has never read the book? Well atleast I think he didn't lol. It would be cool if they did and I can't wait to see it if they do. They just can't stop at one book lol. It is kind of like the Harry Potter series lol.

This is true ... As much as they brutalized it, Eragon was a good movie . (Got into the books because of the movie ... Which I watched first.... Funny how it works .... So as much as I came to see the movie from a different perspective once I became a HUGE fan ... I still like it

This is why people who go into movies expecting it to be like the book are naive, if you look at book to movie track records they are never the same, so appreciate it for what it is and don't just judge it from the way it is in the book, people have way too high expectancies these days, and thats what kills movie ratings. So stop with hate, unless you plan to fork the millions of dollars up to make it better, otherwise, go QQ to your momma.
