This is sad, black people even a lot of mixed people and people of color or minorities are so obsessed with skin color and I blame history for that. I'm a black woman...I'm not light skinned or dark skinned, I'm in between and the lighting can easily make me appear to be either dark or light at times. I usually date outside my race mostly white men, because I found that there were more black and Hispanic men more concerned about my skin color and hair than white people even though their so called standard was a mirror image of a white person.
Well, you always have to worry about white families opinions of your relationship but as for the person I'm dating, whether my skin was dark or light or my hair was nappy or straight was never an issue unless he was poor. I think history and self-confidence is the problem. I also like black men and men in general, but this has been my experience.
I think it's sad that women would belittle themselves by coming down to the level of someone who doesn't appear to care for them...To hell with him and his brothers if they don't like black women...They also don't have many black fans or as many fans as most black or African American artists with the same platform that they do. Anyways, I guess that is why, maybe it is karma IDK...But at the end of the day life is what you make it and we are all doing things that make us happy, so if that's what makes him happy then who are we to judge. He has a beautiful family with a child now, so let it be. There's a child involved who will one day read these things. I was mad at Damian once not because his lady isn't black, but because of her fashion choices and the fact that he being Bob Marley's son didn't care to represent rasta responsibly or at least half way when it came to showcasing his woman.
They, even though some people aren't given the same educational opportunities, belittled those with a lower level of education, even though, rasta isn't suppose to be teaching the same standards as Europeans. I had almost became a rasta because of Bob Marley until I seen how hypocritical his son's lifestyles were. Damian and his brothers are like rasta leaders, but that only seemed to matter when it came to doing shows and collecting $$$, but outside of the dreadlocks, stages, and entertainment, NOTHING other than fish! I know Bob treated Rita bad, but he treated all of the women badly for the most part and he NEVER divorced Rita and he had the rainbow, not black or white, but one thing he did was respect himself and his culture enough to where all of his women tried their best to respect him and his beliefs.
When I saw Damian beyond the music, I was shocked, I was hurt, and I decided not to seek-out rasta as a belief. But bottom-line, Damian has a family, he's happy, they're happy, and that's what life is all about. And really to be honest the more you get to know his girlfriend the better she seems to be, really, she seems like a nice person. Damian's a good guy, he just doesn't know how to handle such fame and to be honest the life was handed to him, he didn't create it for himself. I mean he sang, but he is living in Bob's shadow and he's stuck with it! My fav is Shiah Coore...He definitely likes the brown skin girls, but he's such an open minded guy and very personable with people and I love sincerity in a person...I just hope his head doesn't get to big...Shiah's very simple and even when he thinks outside the box he still thinks pretty close to the box, but he's awesome! A heart-breaker, but he's real.
Now Damian, he's just in love ladies! IDK about cheating and all that. But he cares for his child's mother and she's gorgeous, for real. And I'm starting to get into this new idea of Rasta at least when it comes to clothes and makeup! Lol
Damian nor his brothers date or marry black women... point blank, GET OVER IT. If it bothers you that much, stop supporting them by making them richer. Stop going to their concerts, stop buying their music and anything else that has the Marley name on it. The Marleys are fake rent-a-dreads. They use the black plight to make money.....THAT'S IT. They suppose to be about mother Africa and all about one love but lets be honest the only love they got love for is white and non-black women and anything that is Eurocentric. They worship anything that symbolizes the white race forgetting the fact they actually envy and hate us. Instead of trying to unify the black race they are trying to destroy us. They are no better than the KKK, and what's funny is that people(especially non-black women) always using this excuse ..."Well they are part white". That doesn't matter they are still BLACK. Let's find out how "white" they are, if any of the Marley brothers are reading this take your self-hating ass to a KKK rally and see if your welcomed there see let's see how that works out for you ...lol They probably hang your BLACK asses with your own dreads. #SELFHATEISTHEWORSTTYPEOFHATE
I like Rohan....he is the man that takes care of business.....as a dark skin black woman....we know how it go.....you will never understand if you haven't lived our story....so why debate.....we dark skin women know America has done us wrong....our own men at times no longer look at us.....TV and the such....it is what it is....My advice to all dark skin women.....stay in school....get your education....trust in God....he will send you a man that will love you.
Until then....just keep getting ready to love your man....and be a good wife....and yes when I read Rita's story....I have felt that kind of hurt....what do you do when you love a man like Nesta Robert Marley....you stay and you pray
