Well..simply put...he loves Kikyo...is in love with Kagome...he has a hard time expressing it because the first person he's ever loved (other than his mother) is Kikyo. Also, hes a half-demon as well, so he so doesnt know what it feels like to love someone then someone else. So he can't break the trance he feels when Kikyo's around. However, on every occasion from the episode one all the way to the Final Act, he has always chosen Kagome over Kikyo when given a choice, even when he would leave to go see Kikyo. So, to answer your question, its definitely Kagome, he just can't express it the same because his not over his past. But without saying, he's always chosen Kagome. : - )

It is a well known fact that Inuyasha hardly cries; he never cried before both women were in his life. And the first time he cried was because he Kagome died. Not exactly when she died, he cried when she came back to life. The second time (and the last time we saw him cry) was because Kikyo did die, the second time. From this I would think he loves Kagome more. Reasons? The first time crying is always harder to cry than the second time. I guess you could say that once you start, you can kind of get used to it. So the second time wasn't really as big of a deal as the first time. Also, Kagome didn't die (she only had a near death experience) and he cried. Kikyo did die and he cried.
In the episode 'Kikyo's kiss and Kagome's voice', I would suspect he loved Kagome more, even from the start. I mean, Kikyo kissed him, yet he was able to 'wake' up just from hearing Kagome's voice. I mean, a kiss is MUCH deeper than just hearing someones voice.
When Inuyasha and Kikyo were officially a couple, they never kissed. The only glimpse of them before, was of him watching her, going on a boat with her, and catching her when she fell. When he was with Kagome, he protected her, talked to her a lot, kissed her, and so on. Yes, there is an argument on this. The time Kikyo spent with Inuyasha was shorter than the time he spent with Kagome, but I don't think that makes a difference.
When Naraku played around with the trust of the two lovers (Kikyo and Inuyasha) they bought it and started hating each other, ending up as the result of Inuyasha being 'dead' for 50 years. If they really loved each other, they would of trusted each other, but they were very quick to believe it weren't they?
Everyone (well, almost everyone) say that you have to go through with one boyfriend/girlfriend to find the one you truly love, so basically saying that Kikyo wasn't his true love.
Kagome is constantly on his mind. When hes with Kagome, he doesnt think too much about Kikyo, especially later on. And the few times we see him with Kikyo, Kagome is on his mind. I would say the reason he thinks about Kikyo is because he thinks/believes that he still loves, her, but hes just trying to convince himself.
And about the whole 'reincarnation' thing, Kagome is still her own person. I would say her personality is completely different from Kikyo's, so Inuyasha did not fall in love with the same girl.
At the beginning, Kikyo was only there and paying attention to Inuyasha was because she wanted to get revenge. I wouldn't really call that 'love' would you?
I've got a ton more reasons, but I'll settle for these for now. Oh, another is that he kissed Kagome twice, both when she was alive, and he wanted to. The only reason he kissed Kikyo was because she was erm....dying the second time.
I think Inuyasha likes Kagome more… I mean sure he loved Kikyo, but if you watch through the episodes you could kind of tell that he is beginning to love Kagome too. Inuyasha once said that he needs to be with Kikyo because she died for him, not because he loves her. And so every time when Inuyasha saves Kikyo or protects her, he is more doing so because he believes it’s the right thing to do… But he does love Kikyo very much and I don’t think it will ever change. Inuyasha and Kagome’s relationship is pretty blurry, but as the journey goes on, Inuyasha really shows his love to Kagome. First, every time when all his friends get in danger, he’ll always yell out Kagome’s name and saves her first. Inuyasha also thinks about Kagome all the time, when she’s at her own home, Inuyasha always goes and visit her. But he never thinks about Kikyo that much, I mean don’t get me wrong, he does of course miss Kikyo but he kind of forgets about her when he is around Kagome, but when Inuyasha is with Kikyo, Kagome is always on the back of his mind. And there are too many things to say. So… For me, I’ll say he loves Kagome more, but he’ll always love Kikyo because she is his first love and he’ll never forget her. <3
Well, I think he loves kagome more. The reason is is because even tho she is Kikyo re carnation kagome is way better 2 him than kikyo. When she was possessed in the 1st and 3rd movie I think it was the 3rd 1.... Well any way she told him to run away so that he could not be hurt. But he didnt because he loved her to much. Kikyo tried to take him away from kagome for selfish reasons. Kagome dos get upset when he is around kikyo but in 1 episode where Kagua and that baby brat capture kagome she tells him to find kikyo. He cares very deeply for kikyo but I think he cares even more deeply for kagome.that episode he probably also heard kagome scream she loved him when the kid was trying to take her soul. WOW, that's a really hard question viewers have been wanting to know for a long time but if you ask me...I would choose...Kagome, he just can't get over Kikyo yet so he acts as if he loves her. Because he still thinks he does. P.S. Judging by the pictures I've seen on youtube.com, I think he chooses kagome over Kikyo. He's in love with kagome, since she's kikyo's reincarnation. he sees certain characteristics that he likes. So really kagome is kikyo, plus so much more, which makes her better. She is the best pick for him everything she is, balances out everything he is, together their like yin and yang. They where made a perfect match,thats how its meant to be. I'm amazed by the number of people who are in denial here. He does not love Kagome more than Kikyou just because he spends more time with her. Both women are important figures in his life and he loves them both equally. There is no doubt that he has come to love Kagome as much more than just being Kikyou's reincarnation, but he'll never throw away his feelings for Kikyou either. Kikyou is the first woman he fell in love with and the first person he shared his first romantic relationship with. After reading Chapter 465 of the manga (Episode 8 of the Final Act series), I became very much convinced that he does not love one more than the other and that his love for Kikyou remains ever as strong as it was prior to her death. As a result of this equal love, he was never able to choose one over the other.

I think he loved them both in very different ways... He knew Kikyo first.. And she was the one who gave him a first chance despite the fact that he was a demon and all and wanted him to change into a human. He used to think he was like unloveable or something (when they show all the kids who never wanted to be friends with him when he was a kid) and Kikyo well... She was his first friend. And that developed into love. Reality check : Kagome never insisted on Inu Yasha becoming human. She just doesnt want him to become a demon because she thinks he wont recognise her anymore or care. She's okay with him being a half-demon. And she's kind and sweet and everything more than Kikyo was, because she could accept him like that. Kikyo on the other hand could accept him temporarily knowing he'd become human sometime in the future. (love with expectations lol)
And with Kagome, unconditional love.
The reason he's so hesitant with her is because he doesn't feel good enough for her. Even though. He doesnt show it. But when he makes up his mind to protect Kikyo from Naraku.. He always tries to save and protect Kagome more than Kikyo. He may act like he loves Kikyo, but he can't get over that she bound him to a tree and to find out 50 years later to be saved by Kagome. So Kagome is InuYasha's one true love.

Judging by the comments,Most of the people prefer kagome.this show is the journey of inuyasha it isn't about who he chooses at the end. Both kikiyo and kagome are very important to him. And both of them plays a very vital role in his development.
Having said that I don't ship pairings in any kind of show I usually go with whats on the screen .so to me it is absolutely clear that he chooses kagome. Kikiyo is just there to create a love triangle so that people can argue that who loves inuyasha more or something like that.
So to answer your question he chooses KAGOME people will argue that it's only because kikiyo died or whatever. The fact of the matter is he does marry kagome. That answers everything besides it doesn't really matter isn't kikiyo and kagome are kind of the same person they have same soul. And after when kikiyo came back to life. It was done using a part of kagome's soul. So she is basically a part of kagome herself.

I can't believe so many people are so dumb, such bandwagon riders, after the final act came out it was obvious that inuyasha had stronger feelings for kikyou. My reasoning? Well lets just list the obvious points
kikyou was inuyasha's FIRST love, we all know how strong first loves are (unless we have a bunch of grade schoolers here) and every love after will always be compared. Inuyasha went through the most emotional grief over kikyou, and that is only partly due to her death. He was easily able to get over the betrayal and it was like nothing had ever happened.
Despite the fact that they both spent massive amounts of time with him, inuyasha was prepared to become a human, destroy the jewel, and live with her forever, abandoning ALL of his previous insecurities of being a half demon and such
inuyasha NEVER kissed kagome, yet he kissed kikyou THREE times (once in the past after getting off the boat, once in the present in the forest, and again before she died- and remember folks this is at the end of the series after all his supposed love for kagome has developed and right in front of her might I add). Inuyasha and kagome only kissed in the anime which was a CHANGE from the original manga, most likely to appease fans.
The entire story plot revolves around the love between inuyasha and kikyou if you hadnt noticed folks (yes the love between him and kagome is also one of the largest plots), the entire reason onigumo became naraku was to get the love of kikyou that was his wish, and why he tried so hard to separate and make the two hate each other. Even after he still tried to destroy their bonds in whatever way he could, their love was the fuel for the series. Without that there would be no show.
There are many other reasons but the main point is clear. I'm not saying inuyasha doesnt have feelings for kagome, they are strong for sure, but I cannot deem them as strong as what he had for kikyou. Case closed

Kikyo is InuYasha's first love. First loves are always so difficult to forget. After she died, but was resurrected, InuYasha felt indebted to her because she lost her life basically at his hands. So he was prepared to protect her even if it meant that he had to die. And of course he still had feelings for her. But when you think about it.. She is just bones and clay, and can only survive so long as she has other people's souls to live off of. It is truly only a matter of time that Kikyo dies for a second time.
And I know that many believe that Kagome does not belong in the same era as Kikyo or InuYasha, but she was brought there and has the ability to travel there for a reason: Fate. And, also, many people believe that the only reason InuYasha fell in love with Kagome was because she was the reincarnation of Kikyo. Not true. Kagome is her own person, she is nothing like Kikyo at all.

To be honest I don't like or dislike kikyo. Before kikyo died she was once a very kind hearted person. But when naraku killed her she died with hatred and despare. The good part of kikyo was reincarnated into kagome, but that one time when he choose kikyo, inuyasha didn't realize this yet.
