The lyrics 'can you rock me; baby we can groove' originate from the song 'Lacee's Grove', by the artist Lacee. To view the complete lyrics to the song Lacee's Grove, follow the link below: http://www.onlylyrics.com/hits.php?grid=4&id=1035993.

• Lacee

Lacee - who bears the full name Lacy Yvonne Reed - is an American soul and R&B  singer and lyricist. She writes the majority of her own songs as well as songs for other R&B artists. Her biggest musical influences are the works of stars such as Gladys Knight and Aretha Franklin, who is her biggest music idol.

Lacee first began singing as a child, performing at her local church, sometimes alone but often alongside her mother, Jo-Ann Reed. After finishing high school in Batesville, MS, she began to pursue a professional music career. After many years of hard work she found success in the music industry, releasing her first album in 2006. This album won her the International Female Vocalist of the Year award, as well as the Jackson Music Award.

As well as having a successful singing career, Lacee has tried her hand at acting. She has performed in several musical theater plays throughout the Memphis area alongside stars such as Glen Jones and Shirley Caesar. Lacee attributes her success in performing to the encouragement she received as a child, primarily from her mother.

• 21st Century R&B music

The 21st Century has seen popular R&B music adapt to fit in with the new music tastes developing in the younger generation. R&B songs now typically feature a quicker tempo as well as more technically altered voices. It isn't uncommon for R&B music to be played at clubs into the early hours of the morning, although slower R&B ballads from the 80s and 90s are regularly played at bars with a more relaxed atmosphere.
