The song 'What is love?' was recorded by an artist called Haddaway in the early 1990s.

The song was hugely succesful around the world (success that Haddaway has struggled to recreate since, I might add).

Yes, musical genius Haddaway (who was born as Nestor Alexander Haddaway) is behind the hit song What is Love?
The track was part of a '90s dance-music craze known as Eurodance, a combination of up-tempo house music, techno, Hi-NRG, pop and rap.

However, I remember first seeing the song as part of the Saturday Night Live skit entitled 'The Roxbury Guys' - in which actors Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan are filmed enjoying a night out in dance clubs accompanied by a third celebrity (the likes of Jimmy Carey and Sylvester Stalone have been in on the act).
