The popular series of movies, based on the books by Stephenie Meyer, are to be released in the same order that the books were released, to coincide with the story.
The films that have already been released were released as follows:
• Twilight, which was released in 2008, helped kick off the craze for Meyer's books, with the help of actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. It followed the meeting of Edward and Bella. Bella, an average, brown-haired girl, moves to Forks to live with her dad and meets the strange Edward Cullen, who turns out to be a vampire. Then your slightly-less-than-normal love story commences, and Edward has to protect Bella from other less-friendly vampires in the film.
• The next release was New Moon in 2009, featuring a new character, Jacob, who is played by Taylor Lautner. Jacob is a werewolf who also happens to fall for Bella, creating a love triangle between human, werewolf and vampire. The soundtrack for the film is exceptional, featuring well-known bands such as The Killers and Muse.
• The third book in the series was adapted into a film in 2010 (Eclipse) and was filmed in only two months between August and October 2009. It was the first of the Twilight series to be released in IMAX format, bringing the franchise right into the forefront of technology.
• The last in the series of books is Breaking Dawn which is being split into a two-part film, with the first part due to be released in November 2011 and the second at an unconfirmed date in 2012. The three main characters will be back in the films, with the same characters playing the roles.
