Marilyn Cole was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in January 1972. She was also Playmate of the Year in 1973. She became the only Briton to have held that title. Alexas Urba was the photographer for her original pictorial.
She started off at London's Playboy Club, as a Bunny. Both Hugh Hefner and Victor Lownes, pursued her romantically. Victor Lownes, was the president of Playboy Enterprises at the time. She was briefly involved with Bryan Ferry, singer of Roxy Music, and appeared on the band's 'Stranded' album cover. However, she married Lownes in 1984. The couple today reside in London, where she works as a journalist.
Cole continues to pose for Playboy, and can be seen in the pictorial "Playmates Forever! Part Two", which appeared in April 1984, and the feature about the 'Minikini', in April 1989, which was about a one piece, strapless bathing suit that she marketed briefly.
