Many tabloids and other publications have at least hinted at the fact that Minaj is bisexual. However, Nicki has refused to directly answer any questions on this subject, and there remains speculation about this to this day.
Nicki Minaj was born in 1982 in Saint James in the country of Trinidad and Tobago. At the age of five, her mother packed her up and moved to the Queens borough of New York City.
She played clarinet in the band at middle school, before moving on to LaGuardia High School in New York City, a high school specializing in the performing arts where she participated in the drama program. Nicki had wanted to take part on the vocal program, but had the misfortune of losing her voice on the day of auditions.
Minaj's childhood was marred by the constant fighting of her parents, and by her father's drug and alcohol abuse.
After signing a record deal, Nicki Minaj shot to fame with her 2009 recording Pink Friday, which reached number one on the Billboard charts in February of 2011. Her star continues to rise with recent appearances on Saturday Night Live and other shows on network television.
Many of her songs, and several of her interviews, have strongly implied that she is bi-sexual, but the rapper has denied dating either men or women, further stoking the flames of speculation.
She has steadfastly refused to be labeled, although she has gone down the path of female rappers before her by using the themes of sex in her songs.
