The 2000 movie starring Christian Bale is widely considered to be a cult film and, as of June 2012, Lionsgate have confirmed plans to do a remake.

Magnolia is an American drama film starring Tom Cruise and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The film was written, produced and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and so is not based on a novel.

A satirical war drama set in Iraq, the story for the Three Kings screenplay was written by John Ridley. The film stars George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, and Ice Cube.
American Beauty (1999)
American Beauty was written by Alan Ball, who actually began the film as a play in the early 90s, only to shelve it for several years when he realised it wouldn't work on stage. Ball unearthed the play in 1997 when he was attempting to break into the film industry.
