In the movie Funny Farm, the dark green convertible car is a 1955 MG TF 1500.

About The Film

Funny Farm is a 1988 comedy film starring Chevy Chase and Madolyn Smith. The movie is an adaptation of the 1985 comedic novel by Jay Cronley, which was also called Funny Farm. The story follows writer Andy Farmer (Chase) and his wife Elizabeth (Smith), who move to a seemingly quiet and peaceful town in Vermont so that Andy can write his novel.

About The MG Car Company

The MG Car Company Limited was a British car manufacturer, founded in the 1920s by Cecil Kimber. The company was best known for producing its two-seater sports cars. In 2005, the Nanjing Automobile Group purchased the rights to the MG brand. The company is now known as MG Motor.

Price Of The Car Today

Despite being known for its often-questionable performance, the convertible featured in Funny Farm is now a popular and collectible car, and sells for a minimum of around £25,000 (as of June 2012).

The car was not a kit. It was an original  1955 MG TF 1500.  Only about 3000 were ever produced.  The color was probably not original.

It certainly was not a kit. I pulled it out of a barn in Chico, Ca. in 2016 and cleaned it all up, and made it run so it could be sold...it was originally white. The green paint job was a quickie as the engine compartment was not even painted. It is a nice car. I know, I touched every inch of it.
