When you created the movie, you automatically got the copyright as you are the creator and only you have the right to make any copies of your work. Whether you get a registration from the Copyright office or not is your choice. The advantage of registration would be that you would have your work on the public record and you would have the legal right to place a lawsuit for infringement if someone violates your copyright.

In order to register for copyright, you have to send an application form, registration fee and two copies of your work to this address:

Library of Congress
Copyright Office
101 Independence Avenue, SE
Washington, DC 20559-6000
