There are no current plans for teen pop sensation Justin Drew Bieber to perform in Sweden or otherwise visit the country. Although it is expected that Bieber will be embarking on another world tour in 2012 with a European leg, no official dates have yet been released and it is not known whether Sweden will be included. Several ‘Get Bieber to Sweden’ campaigns have been launched by Scandinavian fans, or ‘Biebelers’, through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, although the influence these might have on his touring decisions are questionable.
Bieber, who shot to fame in 2007 after posting dozens of homemade pop videos on YouTube, is currently coming to the end of his first headlining tour. The ‘My World Tour’, based on his two-part album ‘My World’ (which has now been certified as Platinum in the USA and Canada) and ‘My World 2.0’ consists of four ‘legs’ and 117 shows, none of which have taken place in Sweden. Europe has featured heavily in the tour, however, with concerts in Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland among others. There were also numerous UK tour dates in March and April 2011. Currently Bieber is performing in the Far East, before heading to South America in July for the final leg of an extensive world tour that began in June 2010.
For Swedish Biebelers hoping to see their favourite teen singer in concert it may be necessary to travel to another country during the next world tour, however it’s not uncommon for stars to announce surprise visits and concerts at short notice, so a visit to Sweden by Bieber this year is still a possibility, albeit not forecast.
