Jay Kay the popular funk musician better known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the music band Jamiroquai who first made the acid jazz brand of music famous in the early 90s is known as Jason Kay. He was born on December 30, 1969 and was named as Jason Cheetham; he grew up with his mother Karen Kay who performed as a singer and entertainer. Kay became homeless at a young age and had a few brushes with the law before taking to music and deciding to make a career out of it.

Accordingly he founded the band Jamiroquai along with fellow musicians Toby Smith, Stuart Zender, Nick van Zelder and Wallis Buchanan in 1992; the band went on to achieve immense popularity world wide and till date have sold more than 20 million albums. Kay away from music is known for his passion for sports cars and has been booked several times for speeding; he is also known for his dislike of paparazzi and has been involved in several incidents with press photographers.
