Ringo Starr, MBE, whose real name is Richard Starkey was born July 7, 1940, so that makes him 71 years old.
Ringo Starr's career has covered many things; he is a musician, singer, songwriter, and actor, but he is best known for being the drummer with The Beatles.
When The Beatles formed in Liverpool, England in 1960, Ringo Starr was already the drummer for another band, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. He joined The Beatles two years later in 1962 when he took the place of the 'fifth' Beatle, Pete Best.
As well as drummer, Ringo Starr also contributed vocally, taking the lead in a number of songs but notably 'Yellow Submarine'; 'With a Little Help From My Friends' and 'Act Naturally'.
Starr was also responsible for co-writing 'What Goes On', and was primarily responsible for 'Octopus's Garden' and 'Don't Pass Me By'.
Ringo Starr is the Beatle who has had more documentaries made about him than any of the others, but he also acted in a number of movies, both about The Beatles, and others.
Starr did not let the breakup of The Beatles end his musical career; he has achieved success with a number of solo singles and albums, as well as making recordings with the other members of the band as they too formed a career outside of The Beatles.
Besides hosting a variety of TV shows, Ringo Starr also narrated the first two series of 'Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends' - a series for children based on the books by Rev Awdry.
Far from taking things easy and slowing down now that he is in his seventies, Ringo Starr still tours with his current band, The All-Starr Band.
