The clarinet can be played in both the classical and jazz formats.
As a jazz instrument, it can soar above the rest of the band and make the band swing better.
Famous inspirational jazz clarinettists include: Barney Bigard, Johnny Dodds, Lester Young, Sidney Bechet, Artie Shaw, Bennie Goodman, Pete Allen.

I used to play it in Primary School, it was a great instrument :)
