Elizabeth Ashley was born on August 30, 1939 in Ocala, Florida in the United States. She is an American Broadway and film actress during the 1960s and the 1970s.

She is best known for her strong characters that were very liberated. Some of her most known films include, 'Great Scout and Cathouse Thursday', 'Ship of Fools', 'Vampire Kiss', and 'Coma'.

In 1962, she won a Tony Award for her Broadway performance in 'Take Her, She's Mine'. She was also nominated for a Tony Award for her performances in 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof', and 'Barefoot in the Park'. Elizabeth Ashley loved working on Broadway.

In 1993, she made some shocking news to the public. She claimed that she was raped and severely beaten by three drunken men at an abandoned gas station in Bakersfield, California. She made this news public while she was testifying in the rape trial of another man who raped one of her friends.
