Mozart's music was so complex and emotionally driven, that I think listening to it with great concentration fires up the neurons of our brain, particularly the higher thinking part of our brain where ideas and creativity lie. Mozart's music has great crescendos (highs) followed by lows which ignites the emotions and makes us passionate about his music. I think listening to Mozart makes a smart person smarter for sure. It's because of Mozart's great detail to intertwining notes of high and low scales that fires the brain moreso than the other great composers.

No, only if you play it on an instrument, because you are using both sides of your brain.

It would be wonderful if it could make us smarter. We could all be geniuses. It's just music to be enjoyed.

It is a myth... A very spread and common one... But it is still untrue.
But I think the results of the testing were that; there is no long term increase in intelligence.

Yes there some myths related to mozart but i don't think it will make you smarter. In my opinion, it all depends on your capabilities and on your hardwork. Nothing else in this world can make you smarter or dumb.

It could possible make baby minds smarter because their minds are not yet developed and by so many different notes can make the mind do many things at once making the baby's thinking level higher. The fact that 'mozart' makes you smarter can be true but not as efficient with adult minds. Other classical musics by other musicians are just as good as the mozart.

Hi people!! Me and two other girls did are doing that project and experimanted on it. The result we got was that it didn't help. That is only based on about 20 girls and is not accurate. Then again, nothing human is accurate. U cant rely on the music to make u smarter. U have 2 drive urself to work harder, etc.

No that's just a stupid myth so people can get other consumers to buy a stupid Mozart CD. All it does for me is make me sleep.

Its sad that fergie26 is so narrow minded about music, Mozart is the most exquisite music imaginable. You need to read the book "The Mozart Effect" by Don Campbell. Its not an exciting read..its not a novel, but its extremely informative on the subject of music therapy and the effect that Mozart has on the human mind and body. there is something in the composition of Mozart's music that the sound waves naturally meld with the natural NORMAL brain waves of the human. This is called toning.. it can also be achieved by humming.. but you have to experiment to find the tone that works for you..I'd rather listen to Mozart than hum one long sustained tone. It has been proven that listening to Mozart can ease symptoms of many many ailments. I use Mozart to ease the pain of migraines instead of taking drugs.. and it REALLY works. It has also been proven that listening to Mozart while studying or taking school exams can raise the scores. I mentioned this to my Immunohematology professor and we tried it during tests... the entire class began getting better test scores. Now the professor plays either classical or zen music during tests and exams. Give it a whirl...it might amaze you.
