There are a lot of shows which kind of portray normal people.
But when it comes down to it I think there are two reasons a lot of shows choose to show more affluent people and their lives.
Reason number one - let's face it, it is more entertaining to watch someone spend money and live the high life...... It's depressing to watch someone counting coins to see if they can afford milk.
Second reason...... They want us all to dream and strive to consume more.
Hollywood would like nothing more than to convince us all happiness can be found in trinkets and possessions.
