For those who experienced it, what was the "Summer of Love" really like? Has it been romanticized too much by TV and film?

My summer of love was probably one of the most memorable times of my life. I'll never forget that summer or her. I don't think it would make a great movie but the scenes still play in my head, and that was about 45 years ago.

Let me put it this way, people used to call for "Peace, Love, and Harmony".

Now they just put bumper stickers on their car asking others to "coexist", as they flip them off in traffic.

Says quite a lot to me.

Let's see the Summer of Love was 1967 - Mmmmm.

Honestly, I think there was a feeling around that time that things were changing; different attitudes to relationships and sex; a sense of change all round maybe?  The 'establishment' was old and boring - the young were where it was 'at' and we were about to make a difference!

Looking back it seemed good - but then we were all young, free and not hampered by kids and mortgages!  However, that didn't last long...

...Three children and seven grandchildren later. I'm glad to have experienced it!

I hate to be such a "wet blanket".  I was a teenager then. I thought it was all a bunch of bull then, and I still think that now.
