Dear Dance Like a Gypsy,

No this was not a ghost, nor was it a nightmare...it was an authentic experience in the night, which may happen to any human being just beyond the Doors of Perception....I know of a few on this website who have similarly wonderful stories to tell.

The blue light suffusing the room was actually the crux of the experience, the blue of spiritual truth, often, or peace - the peace of the soul.

The Renaissance man could be an actual teacher for the little girl, or perhaps represent renaissance as a rebirth; the Renaissance being a great turning point of Western Civilization coming up out of the Dark Ages with light and beauty.

* * *

This little girl is now around twenty, since she was six at the time of the experience fourteen years ago. She need not worry, just to let her life unfold naturally in the ambience of the marvelous blue light.

Ghost? Nah. Imagination? Probably. An actual occurrence? Maybe. But it was a fascinating account that I wouldn't dismiss out of hand.

At Virginia's request (she remembers this from Ask) I'll add a story. My remarks about imagination apply equally to what happened to me, but there was an outside factor that perhaps gives it some credibility.

In the 1990s I was attending a meditation group at a friend's home. She owned two poorly trained dogs who barked continuously if anybody came to the house. The only way she could keep them quiet during our sessions was to lock them in her bedroom where they apparently slept.

One night during the meditation I imagined that I saw Bast, an Egyptian goddess who takes the form of a cat.

As soon as she appeared the dogs, who had been silent, went berserk, barking at the door and apparently wanting to get out of the room. Bast stayed for a few minutes then disappeared and, as soon as she had, the dogs quietened down and went back to sleep.

Now I don't believe in gods or demons and am a little ambivalent about ghosties and spirits, and I would have regarded Bast's appearance as being completely imaginary. Except for the reaction of the dogs and the timing of their barking.

I'm making no point, here. I'm just recounting what happened. I'll be interested to read comments from anybody with an opinion to offer.

And here she is so you can see what she looks like. Bast!

Dunno if I ever told this story on line but I once walked into a friend's home and, as I entered the room, her guest said, "You're going to come into a lot of money."
I said, "That's nice."
"It'll come from a family member."
So I said, "Now you've blown it. They're all as broke as me."

My friend explained that she was a Gypsy and always said tijgs like that.

Six weeks later my son walked in and handed me $4,000. It was completely unexpected but we'd given him a large block of land for the price we paid for it -- which was a gift, really. He decided to sell it and made a profit, so he gave us some of the loot.

A couple of years later I wrote a story about the lady. She loved it.

Dozy I think it i a long process for us all as we start to acknowledge and accept deeper dimensions of human existence...

And you know, Huxley's THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION was one of just a few books I took along when I went homeless...
(oh and you notice I use "going homeless" a little like Australians might "go walkabout" ? Did this back in 1997-98 also, the difference being I had more funds as backup, then...
