Would you rather have a ‘Star Trek’ Phaser or a 'Star Wars' Lightsaber?
A Phaser. That way I could stun people or kill, depending on my mood.
A phaser. People that may own a light saber will almost certainly decapitate themselves.
Starwars Lightsaber of course! Come at me with the phaser and all I have to do is deflect it back at you.

Phaser. You can adjust how strong it its and I don't have to get within striking distance.
I'm going for the phaser also. As Gator Blu pointed out, it is an adjustable weapon and a range weapon, whereas the light saber (while cool as all heck, and really flashy and dramatic) requires you to get up close and personal with someone who means to do you harm.
Phaser. I always thought the light sabre was kind of silly in a world with blasters in it.
Definitely the phaser for me. The lightsaber is a bit too bulky for me. Although my friend made me this cool picture a few years ago. :)
Lightsaber . . . . I need something handy to open the Amazon boxes.
